In accordance with a research made in Europe on the subject of green procurement in seven countries, it was established that the assimilation of environmental considerations in the procurement centers, results in savings of up to 5.7% of the product cost along its lifespan, and in a general average, savings of 1.25%.

As a result of this analysis, it seems that the possible saving for the government of Israel in the performance of green procurement can range between 240 – 1,040 million NIS annually.
The benefit can also be measured in an individual manner regarding each product. For example: In a work that examined the influence of adapting environmental criteria in tenders of technology product, conducted by the Ministry of Environmental Protection, it was found that the extent of the possible annual saving in electricity consumption by using “green” stationary computer, stands on 84 Shekels per year. In computer screens an annual saving in electricity expenses is in the range of 62-85 Shekels (depending on the screen size). Because the number of computer positions in all the public sector is estimated at about 65,000, the annual possible saving by a transfer to the use of environmentally friendly computers is anticipated to be in millions of Shekels annually.
